Blanco Bungalow Kitchen Renovation: Week 12 | It’s Always the Final Details that take the Longest…
It is week 12 of our Kitchen Renovation, yep that´s three months.
Our floating shelves are up, the stove is in. Sadly, we’re having a bit of trouble with the dishwasher and the sink faucet, as they both leak every time we turn them on. I’m waiting on cupboard doors for under the sink. I ordered custom walnut slabs from Semi-Handmade.
ugh, It feels like we’re so close to being finished, yet so far. all of the little details add up and are taking forever to complete. we've b been trying to fix the dishwasher, but as it’s brand new, Samsung is sending out a technician to look at it, and we’re waiting on a replacement part for the faucet from Kohler. Ahhhh, it’s always something.
I never knew dishwashers were so tricky. our thoughts are that the angle of the dishwasher isn´t right because the water isn´t draining properly. every time we run it, it´s fine until the rinse cycle and water starts pouring out of the front corner. so we’re thinking it needs to be tilted back, but we’ve tried trouble shooting and angling it back but it doesn´t seem to fix the problem. the Samsung technician is supposed to come out this week, so let´s hope we can get some good news and start using it.
you can see in the image above, water leaks down the power cords as well, which is a big electrical issue. so lets hope we can solve this problem this week.
but it does look so good!
the stove is pretty much good to go, we just need to raise it up a bit and put the burners on. I´m still not sure what to do with the electrical outlets. I´ve seen these really cool outlets where you set them into the wall, and they’re flush, and then you can paint or plaster over the cover to match the walls. I know I saved it somewhere but I can´t find it now, but they’re so sick. let me know if you have a good solution here, as I would hate to put the white plastic covers back on.
i’m seriously dying though with how good this all looks. it´s so earthy and organic, and exactly what I wanted.
as soon as we get the faucet and dishwasher fixed, we'll install the cupboard doors here, but we are just playing the waiting game at this point.

so all in all a pretty uneventful week here. let´s hope next week we get everything fixed and we can wrap up the details.
