ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: HOME OFFICE MAKEOVER

I’m a little late to this game (three weeks late to be exact), but better late than never! I’ve signed on as a guest designer for the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge. The One Room Challenge started among friends to challenge each other to finish designing ONE room they’d been putting off, and encourage each other to finish. Doesn’t seem that hard right? Wrong!

Well, at least for me:)

I’ve chosen my Home Office for my ONE ROOM. Why? Well for one, I’ve been posting and talking about it for over a year now, and this is the perfect excuse to finish! Two, most people are working from home right now, so what better time to bring some fresh inspo to your home workspace! This may be a little challenging sourcing items for the design right now due to the stay-at-home order, but challenge accepted.

I’m also choosing to highlight how to re-design a room on a budget. Money is definitely tight right now, so I’m going to show you every Thursday how to update your home office without spending a fortune!

Our tile is old and scary but replacing it and doing a full overahaul on the kitchen right now is just not an option.

I’ve enlisted the help of QuadroStyle tile stickers for the floor, so below is my mood board for the office and some pieces I’ll be incorporating in my design.

As always though, my most important accessory is PLANTS!

Here’s my top picks for Tile Stickers, but I need your help deciding! Comment below and let me know what you think!

I’ve also chosen to go with a very desert, neutral color scheme. Terra Cotta, Succulent Green, White and Gold. So lots of cacti, air plants, natural rock and raw wood.

I’ve chosen this plant hanger from Braid & Wood, and beautiful Office Supplies from U-Brands. I’ll link everything at the bottom.

And now for the before pics of my office…..

Keep in mind the first one is from our walkthrough (not my stuff, not my mess, not my anything!!!)

First, we painted everything white. The fridge, while old and crooked and ancient, we had to keep because if it wasn't broke, we cleaned it and kept it. However, our kitchen hasn’t been touched since our home was built in 1920, so there has never and still is not a home for the fridge. So here it’s sat, in the breakfast nook/new office for over a year…

I mean, a giant box blocking this window is so great, right?

The fridge had to go, but it didn’t go far. We just moved it to the middle of the kitchen for now. I moved in my desk that a friend in Venice made for me a few years ago from salvaged wood, and a shelf unit from Ikea.

Man does this space need some love, right?

Now the real fun begins.
